With its recent Canon Association of Technical Service Professionals (ATSP) attainment, Datamax Texas reveals it has become the only dealership in the region to earn such recognition 12 years in a row.

This award once again represents an important differentiator for Datamax, states the company – showcasing its commitment to elite level technician training and best-in-class service for clients. In addition to the Coppell office, its Tyler and Longview offices were also ATSP certified.

“Achieving the ATSP Dealer Certification 12 years in a row puts Datamax in a category of their own,” said Jery Lane, Senior Manager, Regional Service for Canon USA. “Datamax’s investment in this program shows their commitment to the professional development of their service organisation.”

Datamax Texas Director of Service Steve Kennemer says that the hours spent by each technician to train and qualify for this program is “time very well spent” in its pursuit of Creating Raving Fans.

“Datamax is willing to go a step above what the required standard is for our technicians, and offer the highest level of continuing education,” Kennemer said. “I believe that ATSP is one of the leading factors in our service department’s ability to keep incomplete calls down and achieve our high first-call-completion rate.”

The ATSP program consists of six core exams, with several modules included with each exam, along with an equipment-specific test. The job function-based exams are designed to measure both the knowledge and the demonstration of the skills that are required in real-world settings for a support professional against a set of standards for competency and performance.

Technicians spend literally hundreds of hours in online and device-specific training to qualify for ATSP.

To qualify, dealerships must have 75 percent of its service representatives certified within the program as of 1 January 2019. Datamax Texas had 100 percent of its technicians certified.

ATSP certification also provides Datamax priority access to Canon’s Tier 3 support, bringing in the highest level of expertise for troubleshooting and faster resolution to unique Canon equipment issues a client may face.
