Raids in the Philippines end in seizure of over 7,000 fake Epson ink bottles.

Following a complaint by Epson’s Singapore office and with the help of the Asia-Pacific division of React, a global non-profit organisation fighting counterfeit trade, NBI agents undertook riads in two warehouse units in Quiapo, Manila.

The Inquirer.net reported that the raids uncovered 1,518 fake Epson ink bottles in one of the units and 5,774 in the other unit. The raid was undertaken on 21 February 2023. According to the report, the inks were sold by six online retailer accounts from the same person.

Jonathan Selvasegaram, Head of the Asia-Pacific division of React said: “The raid, which resulted in confiscating the biggest volume of counterfeit Epson ink bottles so far, clearly demonstrates the commitment of Philippine law enforcement agencies, particularly the NBI, to combat the trade in fake goods.”
