In a step-by-step process Print-Rite has completed the transition of the Pelikan Printer brand from a direct distribution model to an authorised distributor model with UK based Print-Rite Europe Limited and Germany based PRP Solutions GmbH ceasing direct trading effective from the 1st of February 2022.
In January 2022, Santos Printing S.L became the latest authorised master Pelikan brand distributor for hardcopy products for the territory of Spain and Portugal.
Speaking at the time, Steve Weedon (PRPS, CEO) explained that the Pelikan branded hardcopy products distribution strategy has had to change to adapt to industry changes and, also, the full impact of COVID-19 on office-based print demand.
Moving away from a direct distribution model to a master distribution model enables Pelikan branded stock to be held in all strategic markets to serve local business needs on a global scale.
UK-based Data Direct became an exclusive master distributor for Pelikan branded printer consumables to channel partners and resellers across the whole of the UK and Ireland in July 2021 offering multiple solutions and opportunities to their dealer customer base. The exclusive master distributor of Pelikan branded printer consumables includes the rewards programme, as well as Pelikan’s bio-based range.
Print-Rite acquired the assets of Pelikan Hardcopy in July 2017. At the same time acquired the exclusive rights to manufacture high quality, unique patent safe cartridges using the Pelikan Brand under a 30-year licensing agreement.
Print-Rite will maintain office locations in the UK and Germany but is downsizing staff involved in supporting the direct distribution model.
