HP logistics continue to be caught short as the top 10 out of stock inkjet cartridges are all HP.
Cartridgesave.co.uk reports that HP top the list of out of stock inkjet cartridges especially on ink cartridges like the HP304 and 305.
Ian Cowley, Managing Director at Cartridge Save, commented: “that requests for out of stock items increase over 9,000% during pandemic.” Up from 47 in 2019 to 4,296 requests in 2020. Cowley cites “scarcity of raw materials, Brexit and unprecedented demand caused by changes in behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Every day we are getting over 100 customers requesting an email notification for when products come back in stock.” “Homeworking and homeschooling continue to drive a huge shift away from toner to ink cartridges. The industry cannot keep up with demand, and this is causing frustration to consumers.
“We’ve done all we can to try and relieve the issue, but if the stock doesn’t exist, we can’t buy it and supply it to our customers.”

Editorial Opinion: Lockdowns, production logistics and shipping all frustrate the OEM supply channels, but Ethanol is at the heart of the OEMs inkjet supply problems. As early as last April there was a global shortage of Ethanol, used in manufacturing inks, but it is also a key ingredient in hand sanitisers.
The aftermarket adapted quickly to the changes and is producing and shipping bulk inks, and the reuse and refilling continues. But empty cartridges are getting scarcer. The current OEMs dilemma is a boost for the aftermarket.
