The OEM published a case study of Colorado State University which revealed that the University has recycled 34 tonnes of print cartridges with HP Planet Partners to date.
HP’s approach to Colorado State University requirements were set to replace older printers with high energy needs, help to reduce printing waste by deploying ENERGY STAR – qualified printers, get the University to purchase original HP supplies and recycling these through HP Planet Partners.
The study explains that Colorado State University, based in Fort Collins, is known for its research in infectious disease, atmospheric science, clean energy technologies, and environmental science. Over the last few years, CSU has steadily looked to replace its older printers with newer, more environmentally-friendly models. It is also consistently looking to drive down printing costs, without compromising on the print quality and features it can offer its users, which includes almost 7,000 employees and more than 33,000 students.
The attention to environmental issues is reflected throughout the University’s entire operation, so in this study, it was confirmed that the University formed a strategic relationship with companies such as the HP Planet Partners recycling program.
Farrah Bustamante, Associate Director, Colorado State University said commented: “Initiatives like Planet Partners further our HP strategic collaboration because they reflect our similar goals.”
HP Planet Partners, CSU indicates that more than 31,000 HP laser and ink print cartridges have been recycled.
“The magnitude of what can be achieved through long-term recycling is exciting,” she said. “To provide some perspective, the print cartridges recycled to date weigh more than 34 tonnes.”
“We don’t hear a lot around remanufactured or compatible cartridges anymore,” Bustamante added.
HP explained that the University has upped the ante to further improve efficiency and environmental impact. It now uses the promise of printers through points as one enticement to encourage departments to consider implementing a Managed Print Services (MPS) program delivered through Source Office Products, an HP Managed Print Advanced Specialist.
