In recent weeks, The Recycler has already been reporting on several new firmware updates, but more and more new reports are coming through.
Only last week, The Recycler reported on the firmware update affecting devices using the W2030A/X and the 59A and 59X cartridge series.
Since then, several more reports have come including the information that on devices using the 953/953XL and 903/903XL cartridge series a new firmware update was sent thorough on the 12th December. The Recycler was informed that ink cartridges already in use will continue working, but as soon as new ones are installed the “Non-HP chip detected” error message occurs. So until chips are recoded the cartridges will not work in the devices.
Also warning of firmware updates was Marcus Stoffers from Tinte Toner Medien on LinkedIn, saying that the same error occurs in devices using the 963/963XL and 912/912XL cartridge series. Unfortunately, Stoffers confirms that the updates are installed automatically.
