KMP founder Heinz Sieg, celebrated his 80th birthday on the 20 January.

Heinz Sieg was born in Bromberg on the 20 January 1942. After school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship as well as a degree in business administration.

From 1971 he worked in various positions for the German Trade Union Confederation before becoming head of the Graf Bismarck vocational training centre in Gelsenkirchen at the age of only 33.

Heinz Sieg then took over the management of Regentrop & Bernhard Produktionsgesellschaft in Wuppertal in 1982. In April 1988, KMP GmbH was founded, which is now represented as KMP AG with eight companies throughout Europe and China.

He found personal happiness with his wife Ingrid, whom he married in 1964 and with whom he later had sons Jan-Michael and Christian.

The company said: “Dear Mr. Sieg, we wish you all the best, above all health, on your birthday! Keep up your great passion for art, your enthusiasm for faraway South Africa and the occasional visits to KMP – we are always very happy about the latter!”

David Connett, The Recycler’s former Editor and Publisher said: “Heinz has been a cornerstone of the industry for as long as I can remember. Very astute and forward thinking, Heinz had a sense of where the industry and market was moving, well before anyone else.

“One of his many strengths was his ability to engage, he always had time for people and always some friendly advice, that I later came to rely on when we were having conversations about creating a European trade association. Heinz and KMP were founding members and have been supportive of the industry from day 1.”

On behalf of everyone at The Recycler, we wish Heinz Sieg a very happy birthday and best wishes.
