The OEM has signed a new license agreement with Robert Bosch Car Multimedia GmbH, a subsidiary of global technology and services supplier Bosch.

The agreement allows Bosch access to Kyocera’s patented haptic feedback technology, which it will use in its automotive solutions.

The OEM’s tactile-based haptic technologies have been research and developed for the last ten years, using a combination of virtual reality technology and ergonomics. HAPTIVITY, the feedback technology, “enables real touch sensation on any human-machine interface” via VR. Kyocera has patented the technology in numerous countries, and has been unveiling the devices at trade shows across Europe, Japan, and the United States in recent years.

As it continues working on the refinement of HAPTIVITY, the OEM is simultaneously developing systems, equipment and devices that incorporate it, as well as licensing it to companies such as Bosch, which combine it with a wide range of industrial and automotive applications.

The agreement with Bosch is effective from the 7th of May.
