Kyocera signs up for Amazon Dash

The company has become the latest OEM to integrate the e-commerce giant’s Dash technology, in what will be worrying news for remanufacturers.

The technology, which allows users to reorder supplies such as toner and other consumables at the push of a button, is described by Kyocera as “one way of ensuring small businesses have one less thing to worry about,” although it has been criticised by aftermarket companies for “locking out” the remanufacturing industry.

“By integrating with Amazon Dash Replenishment, Kyocera printers can now automatically track toner usage and reorder supplies just when they need them,” announced the OEM. “Customers will never have to worry about running out of this essential office supply.”

Kyocera becomes the latest big player to embrace the technology, after Brother, Samsung, HP, and Epson already signed up for Dash. The announcement will cause concern for remanufacturing companies, as it makes it even harder to sell remanufactured cartridges when customers are able to top up their OEM supplies in such an easy, quick, and streamlined manner.

“By integrating Dash Replenishment with Kyocera’s printers in the UK and Germany, we’re helping our customers streamline their toner reordering process, saving them valuable time and money,” said Vindhesh Kumar, the OEM’s Senior Manager for Strategy and Business Development. “Kyocera is focussed on using the latest technology and processes to make life easier for our customers. This integration is just another example of our dedication to delivering these benefits and we’re excited to rollout the new capability.”

KYOCERA devices that support Amazon Dash Replenishment include ECOSYS M5521cdn, ECOSYS M5521cdw, ECOSYS M5526cdn, ECOSYS M5526cdw, ECOSYS P5021cdn, ECOSYS P5021cdw, ECOSYS P5026cdn and ECOSYS P5026cdw.
