The Recycler understands that Lexmark has issued a new firmware (version LW75.PRL.P043). Reports suggest that the update released on 5 March 2020 will prevent third-party supplies from working in its MS/MX310 and MS317 series printers. Previously working chips are no longer being recognised and are reporting the error code 32.16 or 32.50.

Static Control advised their customers that their replacement chips for the popular Lexmark MS/MX 310, 410, 510, 610, 710, 711, 810, 811, 812 and MS/MX 317, 417, 517, 617, 717, 718, 817, 818 series are not impacted by the recent firmware update released by Lexmark on March 5, 2020.

Only last week The Recycler reported that during these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic, HP took to releasing a firmware update to stop third-party cartridges from working in its printers.

Current advice for consumers is to disable automatic updates on MS/MX310 and MS317 series printers so the firmware update will not be installed.
