The American technology services provider has acquired Phillips Office Solutions.

East Coast-based Phillips was formed in 1940, and boasts ten offices across Pennsylvania and Maryland, with 140 employees.

“We’ve known Marco and its leadership for decades and have appreciated Marco’s culture and ability to enhance its offerings, provide career paths for employees and give back in big and small ways to the local communities it serves,” explained Peter Phillips, CEO and Owner of Phillips Office Solutions. “We know Marco will be good stewards of our family legacy going forward and will serve our document management customers, team members and communities really well.”

“The Phillips culture captured our attention,” Marco CEO Jeff Gau said. “We share so many of the same core values. We look forward to building upon what the Phillips family has created and bring more opportunities to the clients, employees and communities they serve on the East Coast.” Marco will be bringing its IT expertise and solutions such as Managed IT Services, Hosted Voice and Microsoft Suite offerings to the market.

Marco has been investing in the local communities it serves since 1973, and regularly organises community involvement events through its extensive Gold Standard culture programme. In addition to financial support, the company encourages its employees to volunteer for the causes they care about on company time. “Marco has a long history of giving back to our communities,” Gau said. “We believe it is not enough to do well as a company. We also need to do good.”

The company will operate as Phillips for a short time. Bill Shuey, former Phillips president, is now Regional President of Copier & ECM Solutions and serves on Marco’s executive leadership team. With the addition of the Phillips’ team, Marco now has 1,360 employees serving over 35,000 customers from 61 locations nationally. “This is a significant day for both Marco and Phillips,” Gau said. “The Phillips family has entrusted us with their business and we’re excited for what’s next.”

It’s the second acquisition for Marco in as many months, having previously purchased Illinois-based IT services company ETC ComputerLand in October.
