Ninestar responds to Blue Angel media story

Following publication in the German trade media regarding Ninestar, the company has issued an update.

An article published online in German, by Digital Imaging, raised issues regarding the companies blue Angel accreditation.

The company commented: “For the purpose of application for Blue Angel eco-label, Ninestar sent on August 15, 2019 its sample reman-cartridges to TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH who started comprehensive tests as of October 4 and declared pass on November 28, 2019, shown as below.

“In addition to patented new-built products, Ninestar has also been committed to the development and sales of reman cartridges for years.

“Due to inexact comprehension of the rules for usage of the Blue Angel eco-label, in order to clarify the potential confusion to consumers, Ninestar is proactively communicating with TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH for correction.”

Blue Angel eco-labelled toner modules help to reduce the amount of waste and, thus, to conserve resources. These toner modules must also meet stringent requirements for the materials used, the monochrome or colour toners as well as for serviceability properties. Last but not least, the Blue Angel eco-labelled remanufactured toner modules made available to interested suppliers and users must – in combination with low-emission office equipment according to DE-UZ 171 or DE-UZ 205 – meet the stringent requirements for the release of fine and ultrafine particles during printing.

Currently only eleven remanufactured toner modules are Blue Angel certified as the certification costs can be as high as €4,000 ($4,732) per cartridge/brand.
