Printing-writing paper shipments still on the increase

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released its November 2021 Printing-Writing Monthly report.

According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments increased 1% in November compared to November 2020. U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers increased 9% in November compared to the same month last year. Total printing writing paper inventory levels decreased 2% when compared to October 2021.

Uncoated free sheet (UFS) paper shipments increased 4% compared to November 2020 while the inventory level decreased 4% compared to October 2021. UFS imports and exports both increased compared to October 2020, up 17% and 4% respectively.

U.S. purchases of coated free sheet (CFS) papers in November increased 15% compared to last November while the inventory level increased 2% compared to October 2021. CFS imports increased 63% while exports decreased 13% in October 2021.

Coated mechanical (CM) paper shipments decreased 27% compared to November 2020 while the inventory level decreased 1% compared to October 2021. CM imports and exports both increased compared to October 2020, up 12% and 26% respectively.

U.S. purchases of uncoated mechanical (UM) papers in November increased 21% compared to last November while the inventory level increased 2% compared to October 2021. UM imports and exports both increased compared to October 2020, up 5% and 49% respectively.
