The company recently announced the acquisition of PFU Limited and a business alliance with Cybozu, Inc.

Ricoh Company, Ltd. recently announced that it will acquire a majority share of PFU Limited (a consolidated subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited), a leading global document scanning business. Ricoh Company, Ltd. also announced a business alliance with Cybozu, Inc., a software company headquartered in Japan.

Both announcements are a part of Ricoh’s global growth investment strategy (outlined in FY21-25 Ricoh Lift-Off) supporting the company to expand its digital services portfolio for the benefit of customers across the globe, regardless of the size of their business.

Through the planned majority acquisition of PFU Limited, Ricoh is investing in the initial stage of the digitisation process – a process which often starts with physical documents being scanned into a subsequent automated workflow, as well as IT management service functions in Japan and the industrial computer business.

The planned purchase date of the acquisition is 1 July 2022.

Nicola Downing, Ricoh Europe CEO, said: “Our investment in this key area of the document management market strengthens our ability to provide our customers with end-to-end support and expertise to optimise their workflows and process automation.”

Ricoh’s partnership with Cybozu, Inc. will see the two companies working together on Cybozu’s cloud services teamwork platform (called ‘kintone’) to develop a Ricoh branded version of the platform to be launched globally starting with Japan.

Downing added: “These two significant announcements cement Ricoh’s commitment to invest in growing solutions and services which support our customers wherever they are on their digital transformation journey.”
