Sharp reports consolidated financial results

The company has released its consolidated financial results for the first half of fiscal 2021, recording year-on-year increase of 6.5% in net sales.

For the reporting period, Sharp reported net sales of ¥1,218.2 billion ($10.69 billions/ €9.26 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. Operating profits were up year-on-year by 31.6% at ¥39 billion ($342 million/ €296 million). Sharp said that Q2 fiscal 2021 net sales were lower year-on-year, mainly due to COVID-19 and disruptions in the supply chain.

Sharp’s 8K Ecosystem segment, which includes its printers, recorded sales of ¥276 billion ($2.42 billion/ €2.1 billion), a 21.1% increase on the same period of the previous financial year. Profit for the segment was recorded at ¥11.5 billion ($101 million/ €87 million), a 57.4% increase year-on-year.

Sharp added that during the reporting period, it saw growth in its smart office business, sales growth of its MFPs in Europe and the Americas but the company was still impacted by the re-emergence of COVID-19, particular in Asia. Sharp added it saw some logistics bottle necks in Europe and the Americas.
