Sharp’s MFP business showing recovery

The company has released its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2021.

For the reporting period Sharp recorded net sales of ¥2,425.9 billion ($22.31 billion/ €18.38 billion), a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. Operating office increased 61.5% year-on-year to ¥83.1 billion ($764 million/ €630 million).

Net sales for the 8K Ecosystem segment, which includes Sharp’s printers, were ¥1,282.9 billion ($11.8 billion/ €9.7 billion), a year-on-year increase of 11.2%. Operating profit increased 31.5% year-on-year for the business segment. Although there has been these year-on-year increases in sales and profit for the segment, Sharp does say that it has seen a decrease in MFP print volume.

Sharp added: “Our MFP and automotive display businesses, which were severely impacted by COVID-19, are trending toward recovery, and we expect these businesses to experience even greater recovery in FY2021.”
