Staples Germany rolls out signage software

Staples Solutions has announced the adoption of Lexmark’s Publishing Platform for Retail (PPR) within its German branch network.

Delivered via the cloud, Lexmark’s PPR, enables retailers to simplify the management and creation of printed and digital retail signage. It eliminates the high cost of hosting an on-site print solution to produce labels, and the time and effort required for trained staff to operate on-site technology.

“We were impressed with the Lexmark user interface and the mobile application that allows store colleagues to manage signs and labels directly from the store floor,” said Michael Sieber, Head of IT at Staples Germany. “We chose the Lexmark cloud offering because our strategy is to outsource application hosting whenever possible. This allows us to reduce our costs and benefit from the expertise of the Lexmark cloud team while focusing our resources on our core business of consulting and sales.”

At Staples’ German stores, employees benefit from a back-office user interface. With just one click, they can manage signage across stores and centrally control printing for each networked printing device.

The PPR solution is also ready-to-use for mobile applications and is compatible with handheld devices used in retail. This allows employees to manage signage directly from the sales floor while continuing to be available to their customers in the store.

“Our PPR platform is a flexible solution that processes content and data from multiple sources to automate print and digital signage. It is ideal for retailers with many brands and frequent product and pricing changes,” said David Jenkins, Director of Sales for Lexmark’s Retail Signage Solutions division. “Our mission has always been to provide retailers with the tools they need to create and manage both printed and digital signs and labels. The fact that Staples / Office Centre chose our user-friendly V10 solution, hosted on Lexmark’s cloud, demonstrates a trend we are seeing among many retailers across Europe”.
