The company has published a blog explaining the ins and outs of cartridge page yields and the “variables” that can affect them.
As the company describes, page yield is “the number of pages a toner or inkjet cartridge prints until it runs out of toner or ink” and each cartridge SKU “has an advertised expected page yield.”
These will determine how often cartridges must be replaced, and the page yield will vary according to the size of the cartridge, with high yield cartridges being able to print more pages than standard yield versions.
Static states, “The aftermarket sometimes also offers extended yield cartridges” which “typically print 30 percent more than standard or high yield cartridges sold by the OEM”.
However, the company continues, “It’s important to note that there are many variables that can impact how many pages your cartridge will print”. These variables include the paper size and type, and even the temperature and humidity of the printer environment.
Static Control reveals that there are two industry test procedures that have been designed to “evaluate the page yield of a toner cartridge: ISO 19752:2004 & ISO 19798:2006.”
In addition, the company says it has evolved its own page yield testing procedures which are “specifically designed to evaluate print performance through the entire life of the cartridge in various environmental conditions.”
