Tech Data names new VP of Marketing

Tech Data, a global IT distributor and solutions aggregator, announced that Catherine Solazzo will join the company as the Senior Vice President of Marketing.

As the head of Americas marketing she will oversee the creation of a new integrated centre of excellence (COE) where digital and data-driven approaches will further strengthen the position of Tech Data as a leader in IT solution aggregation, the company explained. Solazzo brings more than 16 years of experience in organisational transformation, digital marketing and platforms, agile practices and ecosystem programmes.

“Catherine’s deep experience in sales and marketing within the IT industry makes her a natural fit for this role,” said Tech Data President of the Americas John O’Shea. “She is a proven leader who has orchestrated major initiatives across functional and organizational boundaries. Her experience navigating complex, matrixed organisations to drive the alignment of stakeholders is necessary to transform the Tech Data Americas business and help our customers thrive. She is well positioned to help us establish Tech Data as the premier IT solutions aggregator and make us stand out as the solutions leader in the channel across the Americas.”

Solazzo joins Tech Data from IBM where she served most recently as the vice president, worldwide partner ecosystem performance marketing where she oversaw marketing programmes, communications, analytics, partner enablement, digital platforms and web experience. Her IBM tenure also includes leadership roles like chief of staff for the chief digital officer, vice president, worldwide developer programmes and an overseas assignment leading Japan performance marketing.

Solazzo was recently recognised among CRN’s Women of the Channel 2020 and 100 People You Don’t Know But Should lists. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Marist College.
