Employees of Toshiba America, Inc. raise more than $15,000 to support local charities.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the burden it is placing on so many Americans this holiday season, thirty generous employees of Toshiba America, Inc. have raised $15,240 (€13,664) to support local charities.

The funds will be distributed to City Harvest of New York City and Serving People In Need, Orange County, CA, two locations hard hit by COVID-19 and homelessness and where the majority of these employees work.

Toshiba America, Inc., held a holiday donation drive from 23 November to 17 December encouraging employees to participate in an act of collective generosity that benefits local communities and improves the lives of others. Employees were permitted to donate up to 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) that was converted to a cash equivalent, or paycheck deductions and one-time donations towards the programme.

Ryuji Maruyama, Toshiba America, Inc. Chairman & CEO, said: “With the holiday season upon us, and so many Americans in need of assistance, I am very proud of our employees for stepping up and supporting this initiative that will benefit our communities, and I’m pleased to announce that the company will also contribute an additional $4,000 (€3,544) to this employee led fundraising programme.”
