Tradesupply issues new firmware warning to customers

Tradesupply has issued a new firmware warning to customers about printers using HP CF540 & CF530 series cartridges.

The company has written to its customers to make them aware that HP has released a new firmware update for its Color Laserjet Pro254dw, M280, M281, M153, M154, M180, M181, M254, M153, M154, M180, M181 series printers which might affect the use of third party cartridges.

Earlier this month The Recycler reported that HP issued another firmware update that affects third party replacement cartridges for printers using 903XL cartridges. This latest firmware number was reported to be MPC2CN2042CR and seems to lock out cartridges using the latest chips.

After testing it was confirmed this was printers using the 903XL cartridges only and not printers using 953XL cartridges, which seem to continue to work at the moment. Previously HP’s firmware updates blocked out cartridges on both printer model series at the same time.
