HP and UAE authorities partnered to carry out two large raids in December 2021, which resulted in the seizure of illegitimate items and the shutting down of counterfeit sites.

Arabian Business reported that in December 2021 the raids carried out by local authorities in partnership with HP lead to shutting down sources of counterfeit cartridges and the seizure of 1.5 million counterfeit items.

The raids were conducted in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain (UAQ) and involved residential premises that were used as cartridge counterfeiting sites.

Over the last few years, HP has been working closely with local authorities in both the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to dismantle counterfeiting rings and criminal syndicates involved in the manufacture and sale of counterfeit print supplies.

Through HP’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud (ACF) Programme, the company actively educates its customers and partners to be vigilant against fake printing supplies. It also cooperates closely with local and global law enforcement authorities to detect and dismantle illegal operations that produce counterfeit HP printing components.
