LDZ Laserdruckerzubehör enters insolvency; trustee appointed, case 4 IN 17/24 officially underway.
Almost thirty years since its formation, the German remanufacturer LDZ Laserdruckerzubehör Vertriebs GmbH (LDZ), a leader in laser printer toner cartridge remanufacturing since 1994, has filed for insolvency. The filing was made in January 2024, and the case, referred to as 4 IN 17/24, moved forward with the appointment of a trustee and the opening of proceedings on March 18th, 2024.
LDZ had been a trusted member of the DKWU network, upholding high reprocessing standards. The company’s approach to reconditioning, which involves meticulous component matching and thorough testing, had earned its cartridges a reputation for reliability and performance guarantee.
This news marks a significant shift for a company once at the forefront of its industry. In 2019, The Recycler reported that LDZ had celebrated its 25th anniversary. At the time, the company said: “Over the years, great emphasis has been placed on the continuous improvement of processes and products. The distinctive spirit of innovation has long since not only made for the products themselves, but sustainability-oriented projects characterise our history.
“For example, we launched the first bio-based toner, developed the first climate-neutral toner in cooperation with an important specialist retailer, or installed a system for recovering the waste heat from the toner extraction plant. At present, investments are being made in a photovoltaic system in Ainring, where the fleet has been converted to electromobility there. For 20 years we have shown that technology and environmental protection must not be a contradiction!”
