Head of counterfeit trade watchdog React Southeast Asia, Jonathan Selvasegaram has been speaking to local media, warning about fake Epson printer ink bottles that are being sold online.
The Inquirer.net reported about the increasing sales of counterfeit products online in the Philippines and warns that consumers to purchase these products. Epson Phillippines has taken action and created a list of genuine resellers for its ink bottles. The list can be found here: https://www.epson.com.ph/.
Selvasegaram told Inquirer.net: “Consumers can contact these stores and buy from them so they can be sure that they’re getting genuine printer ink as well as other Epson products.”
The news outlet reported that “In the Philippines, the value of counterfeit goods seized by the National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights (NCIPR) reached another record-high at P24.9 billion ($444 million/ €448 million) last year.” This figure doubled since 2020.
Epson continues to take action as Selvasegaram explained, “The company is working closely with organisations in the anti-counterfeiting network, including React, law firms as well as e-commerce platform operators to continuously explore effective collaboration and methods to minimise, if not totally eliminate, counterfeit activities.”
