WEEE compliance, across Europe

WEEElogic has announced the release of a range of free PDF country profiles, providing an overview of each European country’s specifications in terms of WEEE Directive compliance.

The European WEEE Directive states that any producer placing EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) on to the market of an EU Member States faces certain obligations regarding End of Life management – as well as obligations relating to batteries and packaging, too.

The exact nature of the obligations, and the accompanying targets, varies from Member State to Member State, and it is possible that a company may have obligations in several EU countries concurrently, depending on where it has established its activities (including headquarters and subsidiary companies.)

It is useful, therefore, for companies to pursue a Europe-wide analysis of its obligations, in order to ensure it is fulfilling requirements in each country. Acknowledging that this can be complex, WEEElogic has published a range of country profiles, providing an overview of each nation’s specifications.

Each document includes the key points of Directive application in the relevant country, including: Name of the national law implementing the Directive; list of the main producer obligations; frequency of declarations; number of WEEE schemes; if authorised representative for foreign distance sellers to end-users is required; if individual compliance for b2b is possible; if visible fee is mandatory or not; and further specific details.

Currently, the company profiles cover twelve countries across Europe: Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

WEEElogic explains that the overviews are exactly that, and therefore are not an exhaustive source of every last particularity, but adds that for further, tailored anaylsis, it also has a dedicated team of lawyers able to provide bespoke legal assistance.
