On 14 January 2020 after ten years, Microsoft has stopped the support for Windows 7.

In a notice on its website and a full screen notice to users, Microsoft said that after ten years, support for Windows 7 ended on 14 January 2020. Microsoft will no longer provide Technical support for any issues, Software updates and Security updates or fixes.

Microsoft said: “We know change can be difficult, so we are here to help you with recommendations for what to do next and to answer questions about end of support.”

As of 14 January 2020, computers running Windows 7 will still function but while users can continue to use their PC’s running this version of the operating system, without continued software and security updates, it will be at greater risk for viruses and malware.

Microsoft recommends that going forward, the best way for users to stay secure is on Windows 10. Users can find some help from Microsoft on their dedicated webpages.
