Wisetek has committed to donating IT equipment to the Sustainable Digital Classroom, an initiative supported by Google, the Governor of Bangkok, and the American Chamber. The initiative was launched on 13 July, and Sean Sheehan, CEO of Wisetek was in attendance.

The digital classroom is a sustainable process that will gather donations for old computer devices from enterprises in Thailand and aims to reach 130,000 devices that will be allocated to 437 Bangkok schools in the next four years.

Wisetek has a strong presence in Thailand. In 2014, the company supported ‘The Self-reliant solar energy community initiative’, which was carried out by the Deng Forest Community in Kaeng Krachan National Park in Thailand, which is outside the current reach of the national electricity grid. Since 2014, Wisetek has donated 9,600 batteries in co-operation with the Thai Ministry for Energy and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) to operate the installed solar panels that create an electricity source for the Deng Forest Community.

Sean Sheehan, CEO of Wisetek, said: “Wisetek is delighted to attend and support the launch of the Sustainable Digital Classroom in Thailand. This is a fantastic project that highlights the potential to utilise old computer devices and re-purpose them for educational reasons.  Since our expansion into Thailand in 2011, the Thai people have made us feel very welcome and we are proud to give back in any way we can.”

Wisetek has a 40,000 square foot facility in Milton Keynes that provides its customers with a suite of IT related services including IT Asset Disposition and Data Destruction, while also acting as the central hub for the company’s e-commerce operations in the UK, Wisetek Store UK
