The 18 month legal action ends with Ninestar winning their case and Zhongshan Yuzhe agrees a settlement.

Ninestar has announced it has reached a comprehensive settlement with compatible ink cartridge manufacturer Zhongshan Yuzhe Electronic Co., Ltd who admitted that its series of products infringed on Ninestar’s several patents in China and Japan, thus willing to pay Ninestar an undisclosed amount of damages.

Ninestar initiated legal action in October 2018 against the company alleging one or more of their products infringed certain Ninestar’s inkjet patents, namely patent numbers ZL201510524601.7 and ZL201520643462.5. The patents relate to their “engagement serving” technology, describing: “The stability of the cartridge installation has always been decisive for the print quality. Failure to install the cartridge firmly will result in poor chip contact or leaks in the ink outlet, which will further affect printer operation and even damage. The ‘Engagement Portion’ technology, independently developed by Ninestar, is able to offer customers a better installation experience while ensuring a stable cartridge installation. A number of patents on this technology have been filed. The cartridge product that uses this patented technology is compatible with Epson inkjet printers.”

Following a series of legal actions in China and Japan have been undertaken, which wrapped up successfully with Ninestar’s full victory lately. With actions, Ninestar manifests once again determination and confidence to firmly maintain its intellectual property rights around the globe.

Ninestar, the largest producer of new and remanufactured imaging consumables holds more than 3,860 patents worldwide, far more than any other company marketing third-party supplies.

Zhongshan Yuzhe Electronics Co., Ltd., founded in July 2012, is located Zhongshan City, close to Ninestar’s headquarters and, according to their website, produces around 3.5 million inkjet cartridges a year that are mainly sold to China and Japan, United States, South Africa and Australia.
